A new operating system will appear on the market in the near future. It will be installed on phones with the working name Ophone. The first such phones will go on sale in the first quarter of 2009. According to rumors, for their production, China Mobile is partnering with a number of mobile phone manufacturers, one of which is the Chinese Lenovo.

Google’s Android operating system has become a natural alternative, as China Mobile is also a member of the Open Handset Alliance. Using the services of HTC, the Chinese operator has every chance to implement the planned release of a smartphone running Android before the end of this year.

In addition, information appeared on the network that China Mobile is preparing to introduce its own version of the App Store, the Helpix website reports.

“We will create our own store and encourage content providers to offer their own applications through our store,” said China Mobile CEO Wang Jianzhou.
