- Quickly, I'm recording! // Samsung Galaxy Note 2 at IFA 2012

Despite the rather strange form factor of the Samsung Galaxy Note, many in the end “tried it out”, and sales of “either a smartphone or tablet” were at a fairly high level. But for some reason, the Internet about the release of the next model - Note II - boiled much less than a few months ago, when everyone was wondering how much percent of the ceramics would be in the Galaxy S-III. So, after I turned the dummy of the new Nout in my hands, and then I saw it turned on at IFA 2012, I can say that you are in vain. In vain, in vain, in vain! Note II turned out to be about 12.53% cooler than its predecessor, and maybe even the beloved S-III at some points.

The new Note has become slightly thinner (millimeter, no more), but most importantly - more elegantly, so to speak about a smartphone with a 5.55-inch display. This happened due to the fact that the aspect ratio of the display changed. Now the aspect ratio of the screen is 16: 9 which, firstly, saves us from black bars while watching videos, and secondly, makes the smartphone a little narrower, making it more comfortable in the hand.
The display size has increased to five and a half inches. Super AMOLED sensor resolution is now 1280 x 720 pixels, viewing angles, brightness, contrast - all on top. The colors are only slightly acidic, but this is a common AMOLED feature.

High-quality materials were chosen: metal edging, plus glossy plastic is akin to that used in SGS-III. On the one hand, it’s a pity that the developers abandoned the textured back cover, and on the other hand, the gadget has become less geeky because of this, which will automatically raise the sales level a little.

The controls stayed in the same place. On the right (as always with Samsung) is the power / lock key, on the left is the volume control, on the top is the headphone jack, and on the bottom is the micro-USB port for charging and connecting to the computer.

On the rear panel there was a place for a camera with a resolution of 8 megapixels and an LED flash. In front of the screen in a row are light sensors, proximity sensors and a front camera for video calls.

But in order to be called a Note, in terms of Samsung gadget needs a stylus. In the new model, he has not gone anywhere - he is still hiding in the lower right corner. Only now it has become oval (it’s really more convenient to hold it), and the way of its fastening in the pencil case has changed. Now, not a mechanical clamp is used, but several magnets, which allow the pen to be securely fixed in three positions: fully inserted into the niche reserved for it, three quarters and half.

A separate story deserves stylus software chips, but it’s better to look at the video, but here I’ll just list them:
  • gadget control with a pen at a distance of 8 mm;
  • handwriting recognition;
  • displaying a sticker on the screen during a conversation to record information;
  • fast cutting out part of a photo;
  • "Signing" photos from the back;
  • visualization of words in drawings;
  • recognition of handwritten formulas, solving equations, plotting;
  • preview media content;
  • Painting;

That’s all that comes to mind. Maybe I forgot something :) The
performance of the new gadget is simply murderous. He vomits everything that "comes to hand." In Quadrant Standart, thanks to the quad-core Exynos processor with a frequency of 1.6 GHz and two (!!!) gigabytes of memory, it gains about 6000 points, overtaking HTC One X, Asus Transformer Prime and even its “brother” Galaxy S-III.

And best of all, Galaxy Note 2 does not work on Android 4.0, but on Jelly Bean 4.1, which, firstly, adds some cool features to the system as such, and secondly, it optimizes power consumption.

And by the way, about energy consumption! The battery here is installed at 3100 mAh, which allows us to hope for a day, or even more battery life.

The only question is how much such beauty will cost ...
